The Lemonade Stand, by Hanna Frekot 7th Grade Mrs. Howe

Lemonade in the summer is like hot chocolate in the winter. It all started when my friend Isabelle and I decided to have a lemonade stand. We wanted to make a little extra money so we could buy a webkinz. Webkinz are like treasured pieces, they were a fad in 3rd grade. When we started getting ready to make our Lemonade stand, we were already dreaming about walking into Home Crafters to buy this amazing stuffed animal.
Isabelle and I dragged an old, beat up card table to the end of the driveway for our Lemonade Stand. There was a nice looking table cloth that we put on top of it too. Then, we had to make a poster. We took the biggest posterboard we could find, grabbed some different colored sharpies, and started our poster. LEMONADE $0.50 was written across the posterboard. Suddenly, the phone rang. The caller ID said: Amanda Smith. Oh great. I’m sure that’s what we were both thinking. Amanda Smith. The most evil little girl, a cotton headed ninny muggin. But, we still picked up.

“Hey,” Amanda said in her manly voice.
“Hi,” Isabelle replied.
“Wanna come over?” Hannah asked.
“Not especially.” Isabelle chuckled.

We were laughing to ourselves until Isabelle’s mother butted in on our conversation. She told us, “You have to invite her over. It will only be for a few hours.” ”NOOOOOOO!!!!!” Isabelle and I were both saying. We were no match for Isabelle’s mother. Too bad though, because Amanda Smith was coming over. Bleh. This was going to be the worst day ever. We decided to just move on and finish making the lemonade.
The door bell rang. It was Amanda Smith. We looked through the door and saw her big toothy grin. And the fun begins. I thought in my head. While we were setting up the lemonade stand outside, Isabelle’s mom walked in…again. Isabelle and I were thinking, “What now?” She told us that we would have to share the money with Amanda. We immediately started to argue. “But we already did all the work!” We pointed out as we raised our voices. “The poster is done, the lemonade is finished, and it’s all set up.” I argued with anger spitting out of my tongue. “She was the one that wanted to come over!” Isabelle threw out with her face getting redder by the moment. It was all her mother’s fault. She made her come over and now we basicly had to pay her to do absolutely nothing.
Well on the bright side, business was booming. We had over 100 people come to our Lemonade Stand. We had a chart on the side of our stand on how much money we made. Our goal was $40.00 so that all of us could buy Webkinz. We called all our friends to come over to stop by and purchase some lemonade. The total was getting more and more in reach. All the neighbors were stopping buy leaving tips of $1.00, $5.00, and $10.00! We were amazed. “Home Crafters, here we come!” We cheered.
Even though the lemonade business is a tough business, it was a good day. We had to spend three hours with Amanda Smith, but we made $40.00. Home Crafters here we come! Home Crafters here we come!
